It's been decades since I remembered about Gandhiji's talisman [1] - having read it in every new NCERT book...wow.. Had to look it up to see what it was. Not getting lost in the weeds and looking up every now and then is always a good reminder. Gandhiji's was of course hyper-specific to ensuring everything one does, is for the greater good of the poorest of the poor.
Yes, it reminds me of Gandhi ji's talism, though not used for the same thing, but almost same principle, step back and look at the bigger picture.
